Hailing from the far North, Brother Aedan has spent the bulk of his life safe behind abbey walls. Orphaned at a young age, Aedan was raised by the brothers and sisters of Penumbra, a monastery hidden somewhere in the Spine of the World. The priests of Penumbra worship Amon-Re, goddess of the sun and keeper of the dead. Because they are considered heretics by the powerful churches of Amaunator and Kelemvor, the priests of Amon-Re keep the location of their home a closely guarded secret.
Over the course of his childhood and adolescence, Aedan was given a full education as well as basic combat training. At the age of seventeen, he chose to take his novitiate orders, formally joining the Church of the Hooded Lantern.
Aedan spent four years serving as an acolyte before being fully ordained into the priesthood. He was sent to Cormyr by the Abbot of Penumbra to spread the teachings of his goddess and to grow in his own devotion. Before reaching the borders of Cormyr, Aedan had been travelling for well over a month. Being gifted in the healing arts, he did not find it difficult to secure lodging along the way in exchange for his medical services.
Now that he has reached Cormyr, it is his intent to head to Suzail, capital city and home of the king. Once there, he will seek royal permission to spread the worship of Amon-Re to the people of Cormyr. However, in light of his recent involvement with the Heretic, Aedan’s mission might not be as straightforward as he’d hoped…
